When we decided to pursue our goal of opening Fumi Atlanta, a traditional-meets-fusion Japanese restaurant, my business partners and I were delighted to purchase the building that previously housed Purple Rain in the center of the Gwinnett Place area. We knew that the central business area of Gwinnett County would welcome our dining concept, given the existing global dining options in the area. Fumi has been open since May 2016 and we are thrilled with the reaction to our chef-driven offerings and craft cocktails.
From breakfast to a late-night snack, you can experience food and beverage from around the world in Gwinnett Place. It has truly become metro Atlanta’s global dining spot. A few popular gems include:
8 Fahrenheit Ice Cream: this Thai fried ice cream shop features traditional rolled ice cream in a variety of flavors mixed with fresh fruit or brownies and topped with everything from pretzels to fresh cream. If you haven’t tried it – it is a must! The Duluth location is at 3675 Satellite Blvd, Suite 720.
Caribbean Fiesta: This family-owned restaurant celebrates flavors of the Caribbean, from spicy jerk chicken and pork to conch fritters and more. Curried mutton and authentic Jamaican-style roti also are specialties. The Duluth location is located at 3525 Breckenridge Blvd.
Georgia French Bakery & Café: Get a small (or large) taste of France at this popular destination at 3512 Satellite Blvd. You won’t believe the array of quiche, omelets, delicate pastries and paninis, which are just a few of the items found on the extensive breakfast and lunch menus.
New York-style pizza is famous worldwide, and you can find the real-deal by the slice or the pie at Rudy’s New York Pizza. Located at 3780 Old Norcross Road, Rudy’s also is known for great live music and trivia nights.
Opening Fumi Atlanta took nearly two years. While we experienced countless construction, permitting and inspection delays, we made it through and the response from our neighbors and customers has made it all worthwhile. We are proud to be part of the redevelopment of the Gwinnett Place area and involved in the CID. As more new businesses and restaurants open in the area, the better business will be for everybody.
